Jaeger-LeCoultre Memovox Polaris Tribute
In 2008, wristwatch producer Jaeger-LeCoultre honoured their legendary Polaris design of the 1960′s by making two Memovox ‘Tributes to Polaris’. The very first corresponds towards the authentic Memovox Polaris as released in 1965, whilst the 2nd compares towards the design released in 1968.
Both Jaeger-LeCoultre Memovox Tribute to Polaris watches share particular traits derived from their well-known forebearers: The 42mm situation functions three crowns; one for that alarm, the 2nd for winding and environment time and the 3rd governing the distinctive inner rotating bezel. A characteristic of this caliber is the alarm mechanism, which incorporates a hanging gong system that generates optimal volume of sound. The movement is protected beneath a unique double-caseback system that ensures water resistance to 200 meters. The engraved outercaseback functions a system of 16 holes, an element shared with the initial Memovox Polaris watch. This design enhances the acoustic performance of the gong when the watch is pressed against a diving wetsuit. The Jaeger-LeCoultre Memovox Tribute watches are each fitted with convex crystals made from a synthetic material, whose profile matches that of the 1960′s originals. A patterned leather strap is completed by a pin-style buckle in stainless steel or platinum. The Memovox Tribute to Polaris 1965 watch, Platinum and distinguished by its dauphine-shaped hands, is presented in a series of 165.
The stainless steel Memovox Tribute to Polaris 1968 watch functions slender baton-shaped hands, and will be limited to an edition of 768. Each watches are accompanied by a presentation box inspired by its vintage equivalent, complete with a certificate of origin and a booklet telling the story of this now legendary watch.
